The WomenUp Project is RichMusic’s initiative to educate, empower, support, and advocate for equal opportunities for women in the music industry. The label kickstarted the initiative by hosting an exclusive one-day symposium and intimate showcase at its headquarters in collaboration with Berklee College of Music, aiming to lead the way in changing the narrative and creating an inclusive conversation to level the playing field. The symposium welcomed alumni from the renowned institution, RichMusic executives, and established veterans working in Miami’s music and entertainment industry.
The one-day symposium concluded with an intimate showcase featuring songs from the label’s anticipated all-female EP, “hembrismo,” under the executive guidance and production of RichMusic’s first female artist, paopao, as well as the next generation of powerhouses, including Villano Antillano, La Gabi, Cami DaBaby, and Aria Vega.
These initiatives were only the beginning of the label’s efforts to spark change in the traditionally male- dominated industry. Beyond Women’s Empowerment Month, The WomenUP Project will continue the conversations going all year round, with a podcast under the same name, which will feature talks highlighting the various situations women in the industry experience on their way to success.
