The genre we know as “urbano” is rapidly evolving, and one of its brightest stars, Rauw Alejandro is leading the charge. With his new single “Dime Quien,” Rauw takes a full leap into the synth-pop sounds he’s been teasing us with on songs like “Todo De Ti.”
The VIDEO, directed by Martin Seipel, takes us on a booze-filled romp through the gritty streets of New York City, where Rauw begs his lost love to tell him who she’s now spending all her time with. He confesses to watching their old private videos, and reminds her that no one can satisfy her like he can. The sense of urgency and loss is juxtaposed by the cold streets of the city, which intensify the feeling of loneliness and heartbreak.
The full on synth-pop on “Dime Quien,” which premieres today, shows not only that the genre is rapidly growing, but that the leaders of the genre, like Rauw, aren’t afraid to take the reins and lead it in new directions.
“Dime Quien” is Alejandro’s third single off his upcoming album Saturno, which drops on November 11th. With two successful singles (“Lokera” and “Punto 40”) from the upcoming album already in the Billboard 100, everything indicates this is going to be a massive release for the singer.
