The rock band KISS is about to be greeted in a rock solid way: in Helsinki, Finland, the city’s most central statues will be painted with 1,5 meter (5 foot) KISS masks.
The hard rock band KISS is (in)famous for its black and white masks. And Finland is known to have more heavy metal bands per capita than any other country in the world.
So, it should come as no surprise that Helsinki, Finland is going to greet the band in the most epic way: “The Four Men of Rock”, the city’s most central statue, will be painted with 1,5 meter (5 foot) KISS masks. The giant masks will be painted on Friday, April 28th by local Kiss fans, who are in for a once-in-a-lifetime fan experience.
Helsinki, also dubbed Hellsinki, is considered to be one the world’s heavy metal capitals. Using the city’s most central site, located right at the Main Railway Station, for a KISS tribute certainly proves the point.
The Four Men of Rock are seen by 300 000 passers-by every day–more people than visit the statues of Mount Rushmore in a month.
“The band feels that the idea of giving the fans such a great opportunity is truly fantastic!” Mark Stroman, a representative of Kiss, commented.
The internet is prepared for a plethora of “rock band + men of rock statues” puns.
